Abstract:The compitutions in probit analysis are very laborious and the repeated table lookups are repuired. Traditional tabular methods for the probit analysis by computer take too much memories and reduce the accuracy. This paper provides a new algorithm for programming probit analysis. Instead of table lookup, the probability integrals and their inverses, and the percentage point of chi—square distrbution can be efficiently calculated on a computer by use of rational approximations. The procedures were used to write a BASIC program and its applications to insecticide testing were described.
