Abstract:The experiment vesults (from 1987 to 1988), showed the difference in plant dry weight, leaf areas and density of lower internods among 10 hybrids at different growth stages and the relation of the three growth characters to stalk rot. At the stage of vegetative growth, there are no significant difference between a resistant variety and a susceptible variety in leaf areas and colour, dry weight of plant etc.. but, there were significant negative interrelation between one of the three characters and the percentage of stalk rot in the period of reproducteiv growth, The significant difference in leaf areas, plant dry weight and denisity of lower internodes were showed in 10 hybride. These proved that resistant hybrid should generally have larger leaf areas, much more plant dry weight and higher denisity of lower internides in the stage of reProductive growth.
