Abstract:Plant Metabolic engineering is the practice of optimizing genetic and regulatory processes within cells to enhance the production of known target metabolites or to reduce the accumulation of harmful metabolites,by combining the molecular biology,biochemistry,functional genomics,proteomics and metabolomics approach to clarify the complexity of plant metabolic pathways and molecular mechanism of metabolic networks.In this paper,the recent advances in plant metabolic engineering,including genetic engineering of key enzymes for secondary metabolism,transcription factors or regulate genes,and the applications of systematic biology to plant metabolic engineering were reviewed.
